The Ohio Compassion Capital Project (OCCP) is a demonstration project of the Governor’s Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives (GOFBCI), funded through the Administration of Children and Families Compassion Capital Fund of the Federal Department of Health and Human Services.

The purpose of the OCCP is to help faith-based and community organizations increase their effectiveness, enhance their ability to provide social services, expand their organizations, diversify their funding sources, and create collaborations to better serve those in need. The Governors Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives implements this project in cooperation with four intermediary partners. The Community Care Network (CCN), a behavioral health and services management non-profit organization in Cleveland Ohio serves the Northeast Ohio region which comprises Geauga, Lake, Cuyahoga, Summit, Lorain and Medina Counties.

OCCP provides faith-based and community organizations across northeast Ohio with:
Funding Opportunities: Compassion Capital Grants are designed to help organizations increase their administrative capacity to provide services.  Organizations that receive a grant are mentored through the award process to ensure success in their capacity building activities. Grant sub-awards range in amount from $10,000 to $40,000.  Applicants will need to attend will need to attend specific OCCP training sessions based on the type of proposal they plan to submit prior to the application due date. Training: The OCCP provides topic specific sessions in strategic planning, fiscal management, board development, outcome management, human resource & volunteer management, fund development, grant writing, and establishing your organization & 501(c)3 eligibility. Continental breakfast, lunch and all class materials are provided at no cost.

Technical Assistance:  Additional one-on-one and group coaching sessions are provided to participants who have attended a training session in any capacity-building training and need further assistance in that area for their organization.
